Great work on the Combat Sequence. Two questions regarding the bugs:

  • Have you already reported the bugs to Tim?
  • Should I put the bugs in the Bugs section?

[edit] Thoughts on the Rewrite of Growth

I was really put off on what you did with the Growth page. This is a Wiki, anyone can make any changes they want so I do not question your power, competence or rights to do this. That said, I still have three issues:

  • Corrections & Format: The addition of Borg and Solorian growth rates was a fine addition. You rewrote as one would in a programing language rather than excel. I have no real problem with the stylle change although I use Excel as do many players that are not programmers. My writting can sometimes be rough on the edges but Eliminating everything another afficationado that I respect is just not the way I do things.
  • Inaccuracies: #1: the Peaaceful bonus does not work and #2: the Happiness ranges you indicate do not work. Eliminating the table I left is simpler but inaccurate. I prefer accuracy rather than being concisely wrong. At a minimum retain that happiness is open issue unless you have either reviewed the current code or done the sims to know the real formula as I have.
  • Credit: I spent a huge amount of time verifying the growth rates. Perhaps a few hundred simulations. For that I published and I believe in granting credit where credit is due. I am a little torqued that you would rewrite and eliminate any indication that any thing was my work.

I don't expect you to fix this but I wanted you to know my feelings so you can be aware of these issues in future re-writes of others hard work.

Other than the corrections on 101 vs 100 turns of food and the correction to making peaceful linked to a greater growth rate, did you reprogram the population factor (ie is it really population/50 million or is it still min(1,colonists/2E7-1.5) or do we still disagree on this point?

I noticed the change to the Gun Zero odds for low mass hulls (13% rather than 23%).
Was this a tidbit you picked up from your analysis of the code?
