[edit] Overview

The Universal Friendly Code (UFC) for a race is a code that any ship can transmit to make that race treat the transmitting ship like a friend. If you set your ship's friendly code to that of the UFC of an enemy, you will be able to pass by enemy ships without being attacked (with automatic intercept). You will be able to pass through that enemy's minefields without hitting them. Enemy ships that are set on auto-intercept will not go after a ship that has its own race's Universal Friendly Code specified.

Knowing another race's Universal Friendly Code gives you a significant tactical advantage over that race.

You can find your own race's UFC on the ID panel of Central Command Head Quarters (the button marked HQ on the Toolbar)

You cannot set or change your race's UFC, however, it will automatically change when Countdown Till change is reached.
"Countdown Till change" is not the same of all players.

[edit] Countdown Till change

Turn 1 Turn 5 Turn 25-30 Turn 45-55 Turn 65-90 Turn 85-115 Turn 105-140
Countdown Till change 4 Countdown Till change 20-25 Countdown Till change 20-25 Countdown Till change 20-25* * *
 * = Not tested but should be Countdown Till change 20-25
  • You can be sure UFC will not change between:
    • Turn 1-4
    • Turn 6-24
    • Turn 31-44
    • Turn 56-64

[edit] Obtaining Other Race's Codes

  • The most straightfoward way is to get them to tell you their code. Good luck with this method.
  • Some races have special ways of obtaining the UFC of other races.

[edit] Notes

  • Beam up or Beam down Command Codes does not work on other player base, even if you match UFC, this has been tested as Rebel player Allied (both having attack OFF) with a Birdmen player, and matching UFC.
