[edit] Overview

  • Ships can transfer to bases, planets, ships, and pods ( boarding an enemy ship is a transfer from ship to ship).
  • You can do one manual transfer per turn using the ship tab Trans.
  • You can also do a transfer with Ship Command Codes, for a total of up to 2 transfer initiated per single ship.

[edit] Transfer Range

  • The transfer range is 3ly.
  • The same range is also true for beam up and beam down Ship Command Codes.
  • You can enable "Jettison", which will eliminate the need for a transport target and will instead just remove anything that you transport out into space (and will be lost for ever).

  • The Manual transfer is tried evey tic of the 200 movement phases.
  • The Command Codes transfers are done after the movement phases.
  • The formation of a new base resulting from ship transfer is queued until the end of the host order of events. The base will be formed after ground assault, pod land, ground base chunnel and BDx ship command codes. This causes some issues if you plan on using the ship command codes BDx to perform some function during the same turn that you are forming a new base. They won't happen. (More info here)

[edit] Notes

  • Command Codes can only transfer to one of your bases already existing, not one created the same turn.
  • A new base formed by a ship transfer occurs after the Command Codes are processed. So if you want to use command codes on a base that you are forming this turn, it will have to wait until the next turn.
  • You can manually beam down from base A, and use Command Codes to beam up at base B, doing a unload and load in the same turn (or vice versa).
  • Combat range is 5ly, so combat normally occurs before a ship can transfer to an enemy ship (for more information, have a look at boarding).
  • Ship Transfer to enemy ship (or enemy base), including boarding increse your sensor image by +25. (This will make cloaked ship visible)
  • If you want to swap ships with an ally, you can have one ship transport all personnel off of the ship (either to another ship, base, or just jettison them) then have the other ship set to transport at least 1 person onto the ship. Two ships cannot swap crew between each other during the same turn.
  • LOAD LIMITS: That Small ON-OFF button at the bottom right-hand side of the Ship Transfer Window. It shall limit the quantity of items transferable onto a ship. MegaCredits does not have a so called upper limit and to Transfer greater than 100,000 MC this Transfer Limit Button needs to be turned off.(Only needs to be turned off if MC on ship already exceeds 100,000MC)

  • I had a ship at 5 ly from a planet without a base on it and had a transport set to beam down 5 troops. It did not occur. There was another ship within 3 ly of the planet that succeed at tranporting down 3 troops. The following turn the ship at 5 ly didn't move at all and still had the transport set, which succeeded. What I draw from this is that there is some forgiveness factor if you have a base on a planet that will allow you to transport at longer range.
