Talk:Transport Inhibitor
From PlanetsWiki
- Ships that are being followed
-let's say that a ship without weapons is being followed by an enemy fleet. The enemy fleet on tick 10 attempts to transport it's pile of crew/HG/whatever over to the friendly ship. 70% of them fail as per currently accepted rules. Does the enemy fleet get to re-attempt a boarding on tick 11 (assuming it's still in range and whatnot)? Does a repulsed transfer attempt end any future boarding attempts for the turn? -Kathar
theres a 70% chance that the transporter will work the entire turn. a 30% chance that the entire turn it wont work. its not 70% chance per tick. its 70% chance per Turn--protomatter 22:44, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for that answer protomatter. One more question then just to make sure I understand. Based on your statement that the 70% success rate is a blanket deal, if I have 10 enemy ships attempting a transfer then there is a 70% chance that there will be NO transfers and a 30% chance that ALL transfers will work, NOT about 70% of the ships won't be able to transfer and 30% of the ships will...am I thinking correctly here? -Kathar April 3, 2007 13:02 MDT
[edit] its a blanket deal
if the inhibitor works, it works peroid. nobody from anywhere will be able to board. despite how many ships attempt to do so.--protomatter 01:36, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
further more boarding is only checked a couple times during the host run. all boarding ticks are held in a que until host tick 35 thru 38 or so, when it is actually processed. host tick 35 places all boarding attempts in a batch to be processed at that time. and is checked again later in the case of multiple race boarding attempts.
an example of this might be UEA boards the inhibitor ship and wins. then on tick 36 Privs board the now owned UEA inhibitor ship and then again on tick 38 UEA's others ships have a chance to recover it from the privs if the UEA had more than one ship boarding. this is my understanding of the process, others can correct me if i am wrong.
35 Transfer attempts are checked.
1. Boarding Laser is processed. 2. Ship to ship, ship to base, ship to planet, ship to pod, pod to ship, pod to base, and pod to planet transfers are attempted.
36 Transfer attempts are checked again.
37 All object's mass is updated.
38 Transfer attempts are checked again.
