Talk:The Centaurs - Guide
From PlanetsWiki
Woooha! Never had a close look at the cent starting ships. Are the colonists on board linked to the population? If not that would be very nice for games starting with 300,000 Cols (ok, you'll rarely find them;). And 12000 Fuel/7 Intercept on the Shamia - neat. Jochen 01:39, 21 February 2006 (CET)
The large number of colonists is essential since the Centaurs have such a low growth rate. Likewise, they need the fuel to help them get established.
Striving to get Cloning Tech A so early may only be a placebo effect (ie you think it will help you, so when you do well, you give it the credit). +20 to the Centaur growth rate increases them from the worst in the game to the third worst in the game (ahead of Draconians and EE). It is more vital to have Training Centers only on designated training worlds, limit each planet to 20 cities or so, keep Food stockpiles above the 101 turn mark, and keep happiness above 99. These will result in a growth rate of almost 4.5%. Cloning Tech will help with growth (and you *should* eventually get it), but 8,000MC a turn is a lot to not be spending on infrastructure and defense in the early game. I agree the money is better else where, and the only race witch have to race to get TOT A up and running is the Borg, for the centaur IMO they are already easy to take out at the start of the game, I have done it with the EE, if you go for a early tot A strat with the centaur and are attacked by any race, you will lose, any race coming at you with SC and streak missille will kill you very fast.

Sorry but the race guide is rubbish. Therefore the strategy is removed and another one will be put up as time permits. Edit: I will not complete the guide!
Why ? you have a lot of experience with them, I hope it is not because of 1 or 2 comments.

I consider that question to be a rhetorical question, and therefore it won't get answered. As with the proposed changes you did put up, you have to be very careful. It is never good if a side has a big advantage in mobility (especially if also not hindered that much by obstacles), a big advantage in military effectiveness and a (possible) big advantage in the economy. Ie. Cents under old host versions, UEA...
This is only a first draft of proposed change, others input are wanted, especially yours due to your games experience with the centaurs.

I believe Market place have been changed in rescent host, to give 30mc per 100k colonist on the same planet, no matter if their are from another race or not, and no matter if allied or not.

Today I needed to know the PR of the Cents to look for the Humanoid join rate of this race. I had similar problems with spy of the race that I found when I look Spy_Attacks document.
It cound be good to have a race template as the same way that other templates to see in one point all the general info of a race.
Another Idea that I did a few years ago (but I have lost the excel) is to have a table with the % of chance of the join race foreach native foreach race.
[1] ShipCalc does list the chances, join rates and tax rates of natives... Jochen 17:06, 4 December 2007 (CET)
