In one of my current games, the Smugglers Cantina has been a complete waste of money for me. I built 20 on my homeworld. Most turns I get 0 contraband, but every now and then I'll get 20 of one or two different types of contraband.

Anyway, the price of contraband is very low, so 20 units is almost nothing. The cantinas cost 100 MC each, but produce maybe an average of 6 MC each in contraband? Maybe in other games the payoff is better, but for my game it's awful.

My advice: wait until the average price of contraband is at least 10 to 15, or you're throwing your money away. --RogerN 22:08, 11 April 2006 (CEST)

Are you sure that the break is more than 5 Cantinas and not more than 4? 4 is the value from the Tim's page on Cantinas. Jochen 12:36, 16 December 2006 (CET)

Cantina cost 10mc +1 supply. Rebel cantina do not seem to be worth building now.

I Read Aczanny cantina have a different and very lucrative way to generate new contra.

The safe limit for Rebel contra should be raised to 50, not 4-5.

Also since they work in very different ways, we should have 2 pages / one for aczanny in one for rebel.

The Aczanny are not that different to require a different page. The amount of contra that they get (with > 5 cantinas) isn't reduced by population, only by the number of cantinas. --Magik 15:46, 16 December 2006 (CET)
