Talk:Sensors
From PlanetsWiki
Very nice pace, I wonder how you find out so much on this topic.
- Should bases be able to scan for minefields?
Yes

At what range? --Magik 17:50, 4 January 2007 (CET)
I would go for their default: Ground bases have a scan range of 2 unless they have a scanner building, which increases their scan range to 100

Question:
section:Scanning attempt: it is "sensor range - distance to target / sensor range" or "(sensor range - distance to target) / sensor range" I guess second one is right.
on scanning results: "The Rebels can use their Light Powers to sense the presence of a super weapon on ships." I say Super waepons as scav, too.
On table Scan Frequency, colum "Scan Frequency During Movement", shouln't it be "Every 5 Ticks" or do you mean "5 Pulses per Tick"?
also think about this sentence: "The Evil Empire can can use their Light Powers to sense the weapon loadout of ships"
:D

Thanks for the comments. I've corrected/clarified some things. Why would Scavs be able to sense the presence of a super weapon on a ship? --Magik 14:50, 5 January 2007 (CET)
I don't know. Perhaps it is because that weapon had been fired. I take another look at the rst I still should have anywhere. At least my memory say theat Superweapons are always visible regardless what race (can't be Rebels as I play them the first time atm no SuW in game yet and I had seen SuW before on enemy ships. The SW had been the only weapon I had seen, nothing more). May I ask again: What you call movemet pulses are the 200 "movement phases" aka 200 ticks..... all the same, isn't it? Also is the scan attempt meant this way: Every enemy ship in range of my ship has a chance of 2,5% of getting hit by my scanning impulse? And if it is hit then the sensor image comes into play which also determind wheather enemy is visible, had contacd or data .--Sebastian 17:23, 5 January 2007 (CET)
The Rebels sensing superweapons allows them to see the loadout on the ship if they have a scan of it. It doesn't have anything to do with the messages that all players get. Rebels can see it without it being fired.
Ah, right. I should have used the term phase instead of pulse.
The process is thus: a ship every 5th tick sends out a ping. It has a 2.5% chance to hit each target within scan range. Depending on the sensor image of the target and luck, the ping will return information about the target.

Only Hulls 516, 517, and 524 have the gravity sensors. --Magik 21:43, 6 January 2008 (CET)
