Talk:Orbital Bombardment
From PlanetsWiki
Wow, great info. Where'd you get all this stuff? :) (RogerN)
Oh, and do colonists not affect the data at all? Would a base with 1,000,000 colonists and no structures really take only as much damage as a 1 colonist base with no structures?
From Tim. He sometimes grants me snippets of code. I try to repay the favor by writing up a summary and letting him know of any potential bugs I see.
Colonists do not directly increase BaseMaxIncoming. So, yes, both 1 and 1,000,000 colonists have the same effect (ie none). The base 300 value is not insignificant though, and just a few Farms, Factories and Cities (especially if it really is 10,000 each) quickly raise it. Just 50 farms and 25 factories gives +3125 points. Hmm... given that, the 10k per city is probably correct.
Re: Rogue Colonists
I know that there's a separate stat in the Planets4 base structure that keeps track of "rogue" colonists. I think it was originally intended to be related to crime. I'm not aware that it has any effect at the moment.

Do assault units with "defense air" help against orbital bombardment at all? (Magik)
I think "defense air" is only against enemy fighters in ground combat? (Jochen)
That's what I thought, but someone posted on the newsgroup that you should have assault units to help protect your base. I wasn't sure if this was from orbital bombardment or from other ground combat. (Magik)
Assault Units are only of use during Ground Combat (other than their "special abilities", Agrovators, for example). (Amaranthine)
