Does anyone know *when exactly* ground combat occurs? After movement, but before the second base job phase?
When are assault units produced? During the first or the second build phase?
--> When I build assault units, will they fight the turn they are built?

[edit] laser turrets.

how exactly do the laser turrents play out in the ground combat sequence. whats thier attack strength when figuring attack. or if not allowed to attack whats the attack strength when calculating defense?--protomatter 15:40, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

Laser turrets, do they also help when attacking ? or only when defending
will laser turrets figth the same turn they are built?

They only helped when you are attacked = you are the defender. Cause they are not mobile and can not moved to the place where they needed for an attack against an enemy. See [1] under Section Order of fire in KKK Routine. And under the section DAMAGE GIVEN AND RECEIVED BY UNIT TYPE - Base Structures is something written about the damage. Or look at Tims official page on ground combat for host 181 under Rules for Attack and Run or under Rules for Kill Kill Kill is written something for the damage the turrets make.
Think depends in which phase of the two buildings phases they are build. If build in the first = pre-movment, then yes, but the second = post-movement is after GC, so no. Look at host order to search for details.

As JoSch. hinted to, laser turrets are actually quite dangerous weapons in the hands of the defenders. Have a look at Tim's original page on ground combat. Each laser turrets kills 1000 attacking troops and 1200 attacking crew. A few turrets will wipe out an invading army pretty effectively. Phaidros

[edit] Overhaul of the Ground combat pages

Could we collectively intensify our efforts on overhauling the ground combat pages? There's lots of valuable information currently scattered in Tim's original help page and the other links given, that is not displayed in any kind of useful summary in the wiki. In addition, some of these links give outdated informations, that contradict what other links say on the same point.

Another plea: Somebody has to take the guts and clean sweep through the pages and delete the many lines at the bottom of pages with information marked as out of date. I'd like to hear a policy guideline from Jochen on that issue. Phaidros

If you volunteer to overhaul the ground combat pages, feel free to do so ;) I don't think that there is a definitive policy guideline as many roads lead to Rome... Jochen 15:21, 11 July 2008 (CEST)

The second paragraph referred to the wiki's content in general, not only to the ground combat pages. Phaidros

If some piece of information is outdated and there is another place where the current version is placed, the outdated version should be deleted and

  • either be replaced with the current version
  • or have a link to the current version

Personally I prefer the second approach with links, as this makes it easier to make changes, still in some cases it is not easy which page to keep and which only to show a link.

If we have outdated information but no newer version, the old version should imho be kept but clearly marked as "outdated". A way to achieve this could be by including a template(Template:Outdated). This way, the pages are also added to Category:Outdated, so that it is easy to have an overview over outdated stuff.
