They are special cases, they have blast armor. It is very different from ship armor.

 They are simply resistant to low blast weapons. If any weapon overcomes this

resistance level the pod is dead.

 Here is the math:

 If LargeWeaponBlast > (Rnd * 100) Then BOOM!

 If (SmallWeaponBlast + 3) > (Rnd * 80) Then BOOM!

 If SmallWeapon = Phasor Then BOOM!
