A planet is where a Ground Base may be created (one per player) by dropping people onto it.

  • Each planet has an ID and a name. These cannot be changed.
  • A planet can be destroyed and thus turned into an Asteroid Field.
  • There are also ways to change an Asteroid Field into a planet.
    • One of them is natural

[edit] Climate & Soil

[edit] Climate

A planet has a climate rating that determines which races are more accustomed to living on that planet. This value can be changed through the use of terraforming ship devices and base structures. Planets will tend to have a climate that is close to its star's heat level. The range that a climate can be is from 0 to 100.

[edit] Soil

This is the horticulture rating or soil rating of the planet, which determines how many farms can be built on the planet. This value is the total number of farms that any and all Ground Bases can build on this planet. The soil rating ranges from 0 to 1,000, but you will normally only find planets with an average of 100 soil rating and a maximum of 250.

  • When the turn is less than 3, the soil rating is less than 100, and there are over 100 colonists in a base on a planet, then the soil rating is set to 100.
  • The Soil Reformer ship device can increase the soil rating up to a max of 254 (249+5=254).
  • The Soil Sterilizer ship device can lower the soil rating.
  • The Protomatter Cannon can change an Asteroid Field into a planet with a soil rating of 600+.

A planet is an object on the map that is always accompanied by a star.

  • Each star type has a different possible range of star heat values.

A planet's star heat determines where the climate rating will tend to go. Even if you terraform a planet, it will not stay that way, but the climate will slowly move back towards the planet's star heat.

[edit] Minerals

  • Minerals (unmined metals) may exist in varying amounts inside the planet.
  • Minerals have a different density in every planet. This determines how quickly they can be extracted using Mineral Mines.

Different resources may lie on the surface of a planet, ready to be taken via ship transporters or be gathered by bases.

  • There may be metals on the surface of the planet, which can be transported off by a ship or gathered by personnel in a Ground Base.
  • There may be ore on the surface of the planet, which can be gathered by personnel in a Ground Base then put into a pod if you want to move it to another base or ship.

[edit] Food & More

Food, Medical Units, Repair Units, Supplies, Ordnance and Megacredits may be on the surface of the planet, ready for you to transport off by ship or gather by Ground Base.

[edit] Contraband

Contraband may be on the surface of the planet, which requires a good amount of colonists in a Ground Base to gather, depending on your race's PSI rating.

[edit] Natives

There is a chance that natives reside on the surface of a planet. They may choose to join your Ground Bases.
