[edit] Primary Purpose

This is your medium range heavy transport, emphasis on the heavy. Able to carry more and move faster than the Tech 10 Super Transport. Seriously consider whether a Solar Wind Class Freighter would not suit your needs better though. Cheaper and able to cover a much greater distance, only a pressing need for 15 Pod Bays, or a slightly higher speed in areas restricting HyperDrives, would require the Spectrum's services.

[edit] Secondary Purpose

In the case of a planetary evacuation, if a Corona Class Orbital Miner is not available to Ground Chunnel the base away, the Spectrum is a good second choice to ferry personnel. The Spectrum is also useful in transporting free engines from Ghipsoldals to a ship yard. As there can only be 1 kind of Engine per Outfit Pod, they are otherwise quite time consuming to transport.
