Button Effect
Image:Attack Vector.png
Attack Vector
The attack vector is the general direction the ship will attempt to enter battle from. You can choose one of 8 vectors or have the ship enter from a random direction.

You may wish to have your ships all attack in one large pack from one direction to focus maximum firepower on an enemy or you may wish to attack in all different directions at once to entrap a group of ships that you know will attempt to run. A circle of ships makes it hard for a ship that its attempting to stay at a stand off range to maintain the distance.

Button Meaning
Image:On Switch.png
Image:Off Switch.png
Aggressive The ship will attack enemies (and will leave cloak for that). Same as "Combat" in Overview Screen.
Image:Off Switch.png
Image:On Switch.png
Retreat From Enemy Ships The ship tries to flee from the enemy. It will not shoot first., but it will start shooting if shot at.
Image:Off Switch.png
Image:Off Switch.png
(Neither one of the two) Ship will not attack an enemy and will try to stay silent. Upon combat it will ignore the enemy until it notices an incoming shot.

Button Meaning
Image:Off Switch.png Ion Cannon: Fire on Shields Choose whether Ship Ion Cannons will fire at ships with shield.
The reason behind this switch is that you might not want those weapons to fire at the shields and "steal" power from other weapons as they have little shield drain and show their full potential once the shields have gone. On the other hand you might want them to fire once you have boosted their shield drain using Exotic Techs.
Image:On Switch.png Sand Casters: Fire on Ships Choose whether Sand Casters will fire at ships
If switched off, the ship will not fire their Sandcasters at ships.
You might want to turn it off to save ordnance or concentrate the Sandcasters' fire on wings.
Image:On Switch.png Sand Casters: Fire on Fighters Choose whether Sand Casters will fire at wings
You might want to turn it off to save ordnance or concentrate the Sandcasters' fire on other ships.
Image:On Switch.png Super Weapon Choose weather the Superweapon will fire during combat
Image:Off Switch.png Allow Power Boost Mode Power boost for all weapons except BCs, PBCs and super weapons
Image:Off Switch.png Blaster Cannon /
Plasma Bolt Cannon Boost
Power boost only for BCs and PBCs
Stand Off Range (KM) Goal for the distance to the top movement target
Image:Off Switch.png Stay At Stand Off Range Ship tries to hold the standoff range with respect to the top movement target.
The stand off range is the distance that the ship will attempt to maintain from all other enemy ships during a battle. More often then not it is impossible to maintain the distance in a battle, but the ship will try its best. If the Stand off range is greater than the range of the Ion_Cannon_(Base) the ship will not fire at a base. The Ion_Cannon_(Base) default HConfig Value is 500.
Image:Off Switch.png Hold The Line At Any Cost The ship will obey the given orders until the end even if badly damaged.
Image:Off Switch.png Target Soft The ship will try to fire at small ships, bases and wings first.
Image:Off Switch.png Target Dangerous The ship will try to fire at big ships, bases and wings first.
Image:Off Switch.png Strike Through Fire a full salvo, peel off, wait until all weapons are charged again. Then repeat the procedure.
Image:Off Switch.png Ram! Move with high speed towards target and try to ram, peel off and try again.
Image:Off Switch.png Delay Ship (Second Wave) Enter at combat tick 300. When only intact object of one player/alliance are left, all 2nd wave object enter immediately.
Image:On Switch.png Fire at Ground Targets Ships will consider bases if looking for an appropriate target. If the base has an active Base Shield, you need a super weapon to fire at it, or wings. Or you have to be the Lizard (their Large weapon ignore active base shield).

Alternate solution, set a base and ground attack.

Image:On Switch.png Do not fire at Disabled Ignore disabled objects. If this is set to OFF all bases will be attacked and all ships will be attacked until destroyed. If this is set to ON only armed bases (i.e. those with Anti-Aircraft Gun and/or Ion_Cannon_(Base)) will be attacked, and ships disabled in combat (or otherwise unable to fight) will not be destroyed. (A new combat switch is on the way for the next client release in order to be able to set this option separately for bases and ships.)
Image:Off Switch.png Dock Target Possible target for re-charging and rearming.
Image:Off Switch.png Avoid Ground Base A ship/wing tries to avoid the cycle around the center with an radius of base Ion/Anti-Aircraft Gun range + 75. An avoid base object also should not be the initiator of a space combat with a base.
Image:Off Switch.png Guard Ground Base Ships group around own and friendly bases if bases are under fire and leave guarding position if bases are no longer under fire anymore.
Image:Off Switch.png Anti-fighter Mode Wings will be preferred as targets.
Image:Off Switch.png Target Closest The ship will prefer targets that are near.
Image:Off Switch.png Target Harmless Pods Attack all Pod (By default ship only fire at Assault Pod).
Image:Kill Target Button.png Kill target Primary target number one! Overrides other target preferences and exclusions. (Actually this is not on the attack screen, but can be set using Ship Command - Overview, Ship Command - Nav or the menu bar at the top of the client.)
Image:Capture Target Button.png Capture Target works like "ignore disabled" but just for this single target. (Actually this is not on the attack screen, but can be set using Ship Command - Overview, Ship Command - Nav or the menu bar at the top of the client.)

[edit] Attack Setting for a ship to attack a base

  • Aggressive ON
  • Prefer Base Target ON
  • Avoid Ground Base OFF
  • Do Not Fire at Disabled OFF (A new combat switch is on the way for the next client release in order to be able to set this option separately for bases and ships.)
    • If this is set to OFF all bases will be attacked and all ships will be attacked until destroyed.
    • If this is set to ON only armed bases (i.e. those with Anti-Aircraft Gun and/or Ion Cannon (Base)) will be attacked, and ships disabled in combat (or otherwise unable to fight) will not be destroyed.
  • Stay At Stand Off Range: ON (with 500 or less) Or OFF
    • If the Stand off range is greater than the range of the Ion Cannon (Base) the ship will not fire at a base. The Ion Cannon (Base) default HConfig Value is 500.
    • Tip: It also possible to have a long stand off range set like 900, and use Kill Target base, to allow the ship to attack the base at close range and shoot at ships from 900 ranges.
  • To be sure you can also set the base has the Kill Target.

[edit] Notes

If the base has an active Base Shield, you need

Assumed that the ship can fire at the base with large weapons we need

  1. avoid base inactive OR base is Kill Target
  2. stand off inactive OR stand off range below base Ion Cannon (Base) range (500 by default) OR prefer bases active
  3. ignore disabled inactive OR base has base Ion Cannon (Base)
  4. ignore bases inactive OR base has base Ion Cannon (Base)
    1. (wing has to be in range of base AA-Guns)
  5. base isn't Capture Target OR base has base Ion Cannon (Base)
  6. ship has to be in range of Ion Cannon (Base)

All 6 conditions has to be true to be able to attack the base. At least this is as it should work.

Assumed the ship has a super weapon:

Avoid base inactive or base is Kill Target.
