- The Sand Caster fires a large cloud of sand grain sized particles that are magnetically attracted to the target vessel.
- Sand Casters have spread fire. A Sand Caster fires at all 10 targets of the target list (see The Battle Manual:Targeting) until it has fired at the first ship or the limit of 30 destroyed fighters per type is reached for all types (Host 213k).
- Sand Casters are great to destroy the shield of an enemy ship.
- Little hardness leads to early failure of the LW (except for The Stormer Kingdom).
- The Sand Caster is the most accurate of all weapons, it uses 25 ordnance units per shot, is a very short ranged weapon, and recharges in just 5 ticks.
 Point Defense
- Only the Concussion Rockets Point Defense system can shoot down a Sand Caster.
- Concussion Rockets have 60% odds of shooting down a Sand Caster round.
 Holo Decoys
- Every time a Sand Caster fires at an enemy ship it will knock out up to 15 enemy Holo Decoys regardless if it actually hits the target enemy ship.
- It is one of the two Large Weapon, that can also kill fighters (the other is the Gatling Phasor). (max 30 fighters per shot, the code can be found here).
 Evil Empire
- Sand Casters mounted on ships owned by the Evil Empire are half as effective vs fighters.
