Contains some of the contents of a ship that was destroyed in that area of space.
New Wreckage from combat that you own will attempt to dock to your ships in the area automatically.
When ships are destroyed, sometimes they leave behind wreckage. There is a 30% chance for each ship part type that it will not be in the wreckage; rather, it was lost due to the destruction of the ship.

If the salvage switch is turned on, the wreckage will be transformed into an Outfit Pod, a Resupply Pod, and a Construction Pod.
When you have it docked to a ship and turn on the "Transfer to Ship" setting, then it will transfer the cargo that can fit on your ship to it and it will also act as an Outfit Pod by Adding any ship parts that it has into any empty slots on your ship. In other words, if the wreckage has a shield generator in it and you ship has no shield generator then it will add the shield from the wreckage to your ship.
Wreckage only has a 50% chance per turn to self destruct when programmed to do so. You receive a log message:

"Self destruct failed to go off."
