[edit] Overview
Ranked Game Series Web Site
The Ranked Game Series falls in two categories, Old Ranked Game, and New Ranked Game. The Old Ranked Game was developed by another person, and many games were played in that part of the Series. Data was not updated on any regular basis for that part of the Series.
The New Ranked Game was a reboot of the Old Ranked Game. Scores for the Old Ranked Games were tallied based on the initial formula set out by the original creator of the Series. These scores were then posted on the Ranked Game Series website as the New Ranked Game portion was proceeding.
Scores are now updated as each game progresses. As players drop out of the game on Drewhead's site, they are dropped from the listing on the Ranked Game Series website. Players can then get quick feedback as to their current standings in the Series.
[edit] Introduction
A ranked game is a game just like any other. Anyone is welcome can join the game, play, and have some fun. The only difference is that when you are done you will receive a rank. (The current rankings are posted here.)
It is hoped that the ranking system will encourage competition and provide a tool to create future games that include players of similar abilities. Data is also being collected on the relative strength of the various VGAPlanets 4 races. For more info see Ranked Games Series.
New games in the Series are aimed at starting at the rate of at least one per month, depending on demand.
[edit] Rules & Setup
Rules can be found here. That page will always have the current rules and setup. Changes made during a game in progress will be announced to the players in the Game Banter Board at Drewhead.
[edit] Player Status
The following information is taken from the Complete Player List.
A new player is defined as a player who has signed up for the Ranked Game Series and has not completed two games. Upon registering for the first game, players are given a base player ranking.
Once a player has completed two games in the Series, that player is then considered an active player and becomes eligible to have their player handle and player ranking appear in the Leaderboard section on the website.
To remain an active player in the Ranked Game Series, a player should participate in at least one game every two years. If a player fails to participate in one game during the two year time frame, the player will then be considered inactive. An inactive player may reinstate the status to active by participating in a game.
