The phrase "glass cannon" could not be appied more accurately than when used in reference to the Prometheus. Sporting 12 50kt large weapons and 30 small weapons and coming with a 45 point attack bonus the Prometheus may look, at first glance, to be a nice battleship. However, with only 200 armor and 210 shields (gah!) and 3 point defense slots this baby is sure to get obliterated as soon as the enemy fires back. Nevertheless, the Prometheus has a place but the front line of the battlefield is probably not its best use. With transwarp engines it is capable of going 190LY a turn (fastest ship in the fleet excepting the light speed) and can act as a swift raiding ship or a support ship to a larger fleet.

Think long and hard before spending a lot of money on this ship. Chances are good that it will be destroyed at the first encounter where there is even a small bit of resistance. It is however the fastest ship in your fleet (excepting the Virgo light speed device), and can make a (relatively) cheap raiding ship for destroying small enemy bases.

great to use in delay/standoff mode with PTT's when used as part of a fleet or swarming tactic. combine a few of these with lots of taurus's for best effect.
