[edit] Overview

Press the Image:Options Button.png button at the top bar in the client to open the Options Window. It allows you to configure your Planets4 application slightly as well as Make CSV Files for 3rd party applications to use or for you to look at possibly with a spreadsheet application.

[edit] More Map Options

This will show a list of options to be able to turn on/off certain range displays of things like: Gun Zero, Pirate Cove, Tachyon Emitter, etc. Settings are saved so that when you open the client again, they will be the same.

[edit] Make CSV File

This will create several CSV Files (files with Comma Separated Values) containing information on virtually all data of the current game that the current player has. These files can be used as input for VidiVici and many other third party tools.

[edit] Make VPS File

The OPT / Make CSV files will now also make a VPS script of the active game and put the script into the <Install Path>\scripts folder. Client 66 Vps script file can be used with Master to create a new (test) game.

[edit] Add Password

Set a password that has to be used when unpacking the RST files.

[edit] Import TRN

Have you ever missed submitting your turn after hours of programming your commands? Well, now you don't have to remember what you were doing and repeat everything again. This function will take your TRN file and import the commands into your newly unpacked RST. The caveat is that you must have backed up your TRN file. Hopefully you use the new feature to do that or have your own method. Here are the steps to get this done.

  1. Rename the TRN file to "player<num>trn.bak", such as "player5trn.bak" if you are player 5 in this game.
  2. Put it into your Planets4\WAR\SLOT<num> folder, such as C:\Planets4\WAR\SLOT4 if you are playing the game in slot 4.
  3. Open the client and your new RST.
  4. Press the OPT tool then the Import TRN button.
  5. Follow the pop-up prompts to continue.

This may have other uses if you are willing to experiment.

[edit] Change Colors

You are able to customize the colors of all races in the game now. If you don't like being green, you may change that. If you want to be able to see different colors for each race, you may change that.

There are some limitations:

  • With this feature, players may have changed their colors previously, so the client will no longer automatically change your ally's color to cyan. You will need to use the appropriate option to change that manually.
  • The icons in the Space Command window and wings on the galactic map will not have their color changes. This is because the client was originally written with 3 pictures with the 3 colors (red, cyan, green) and so the client will need more work to be able to handle the completely customizable colors.

[edit] Changing Player Colors

To change a player's color, use the Player # button in the window. A color palette will open and allow you to choose from preset colors or customize your own.

[edit] Quick Buttons

There are also some buttons to help you quickly get what you need:

  • Reset to Default - This will set your race to green and change all other players to different colors in the palette.
  • Standard 3 Color - This will set your race to green, allies to cyan, and enemies to green.
  • Red Enemies - This will set only your enemies to red.
  • Ally Cyan - This will set only your allies to cyan.
