Mine Sweeper Array
From PlanetsWiki
[edit] Overview
The Mine Sweeper Array ship device is controlled on the Ship Command - Mines tab. When turned on and the ship is in an enemy's minefield, it will attempt to sweep it. This will only affect one minefield per turn.
- When sweeping a minefield, the ship will either target the one with the lowest object ID that it is inside or you can set a Kill Target to specify the minefield you want to sweep. You must still be within the radius of the minefield.
- Turning on the Mine Sweeper Array increases the ship's Sensor Profile by 50 points and reduces the ship's sensor power by half.
- Cloaked Barbitic Minefields are harder to sweep, with an alleged chance of 25%.
- Cloaked Laser, Gravitonic, and Web Minefields are not more difficult to sweep than uncloaked minefields
The Mine Sweeper Array also has a second mode of operation that allows the ship to recover one minefield belonging to your race, converting it into ordnance units and stores the ordnance on your ship.
[edit] Moment / Duration
- Minefield sweeping occurs after movement.
- Laying and sweeping of minefields works "at the same time". The order in which the actions are executed depend on a score calculated from experience, skill and happiness of the ships as well as the number of High Guards in the ship.
Score = (ship happiness / 2) + (ship skill) + (ship experience) + (high guard * 10)
- The higher the score, the later the order will be processed. Thus if the ship has a higher score, it may sweep a minefield that has been laid the same turn by a ship with lower score.
[edit] Limitations
- You have to be inside the minefield you want to sweep at the end of the movement.
- The device will sweep cloaked Barbitic Minefields 25% of the time (Host 4.000.193)
- Mine Sweeper Array cannot function with hull damage over 80% or control systems damage over 50%. (Host 213)
[edit] Special
- Birdmen mine sweeper array make no sensor noise.
