[edit] Overview
[edit] Primary Purpose
The M2 Flares are the eyes of your empire. They should be constantly on the move, jumping from star to star (starheat > 74, if possible). Full scans of planets are quickly gained and the Bioscanner only increases the gathering of data as populations of Natives are revealed.
[edit] Secondary Purpose
The M2 Flares should carry 10 colonists, 200 MC, 5 Supply and 5 Food. On planets with Native populations (non-Amorphous), beam down 1 Colonist, 40 MC, 1 Supply and 1 Food (to build a Pod Launch Pad). The Natives will quickly join the base and you can stick them in a Native Pod for a Solar Wind Class Freighter to pick up. On worlds without Natives, beam down 1 colonist only.
[edit] Special
- It is subject to the special rules applying to ships of the Solorian Unity.
[edit] Ship Devices
[edit] Starheat Coefficient
- 1/3 (Multiply by starheat for new fuel)
- NOTE: Starheat 75 will recover fuel spent on a Warhop jump. Make use of the Solar Collection Array to refuel. The Yoyodyne 88 is the preferred low tech HyperDrive. When the Warhop 2020 becomes available, begin using it, though you need not attempt to refit existing Scouts. A starheat of 75 allows the Yoyodyne to jump every other turn, while it allows the Warhop to jump every turn. A Warhop also allows for occasional jumps to colder stars without needing refueling pauses.
[edit] Useful Configurations
[edit] Dirt Cheap
Travel should consist of only jumps from one star to another.
[edit] Warp Only
Travel at full speed (190ly) uses 0 fuel. Might consider
Yoyodyne 88 for occasional jumps.
[edit] HyperJump Only
Might consider an FTL drive to navigate past Grav mines.
[edit] Fully Outfitted
You can about double your numbers of M2 Flares for the same cost by instead making Warp Only and/or HyperJump only versions.
