Light Speed
From PlanetsWiki
[edit] Overview
- Allows a ship to travel 400ly per turn.
The ship only move 389ly at the moment!Fixed in Host 213.47 -Sheltem - A fixed amount of 1000 fuel is burned when the device is turned on regardless of the distance the ship has travelled.
This means even when you don't move and the Device is switched on! At the moment it also burns additional fuel for the normal engine. That means 1000 Fuel for the Light Speed and (i.e.) 534 for speed 90.Fixed in Host 213.47 -Sheltem - The ship is still flying "normal" and not hyperjumping!
- Virgo Class Light Speed stop working if at least one of the conditions is met:
- 0 Crew
- 20%+ engine damage
- 5%+ hull damage
- 50%+ control damage (Host 213)
- You can intercept a ship at Light Speed. (
A Virgo can use Light Speed and intercept enemy ships, escort are reported to fail.Fixed in Host 213.47 -Sheltem) - You can escort something while at light speed. (see below)--Morningstar 12:58, 15 December 2006 (CET)
- You can escort something moving at light speed. (info from Morningstar, host 186)
-How? > Just like escort on any other ship with the limiting factor of keeping up. -What settings needed? > Best to have the "unit" that is set to escort at speed 400 also I usually use wings that only have type 2 and 3 fighters. Ally rebel wings can also do this or another Virgo also at light speed. A Meteor is another option but remember to have the Virgo waypoint no longer than 380 (if your using a Meteor). Also note that they will be separated until the end of turn.

[edit] Command Codes
- LSD (Light Speed for short Distances): Without this Command Code, the Light Speed Ship Device is not turned on for short distances (<50ly), even if ordered to do so.
- LSP (Light Speed remains on): Without this Command Code, the Light Speed Ship Device is automatically turned off after usage.

[edit] Research
- Virgo Class Light Speed stop working if the ship has 20% engine damage and 5% hull damage. Does is it need to have both Engine & hull damage or one is enough ?
A: Lightspeed successfully stopped on Virgo with 1% Engine damage (detonating a Grav minefield) and 5% Hull damage, Host 2.12a -- DrAstroman
- While travelling by Light Speed can the Virgo still go its normal 90 warp speed and thus fly 490LY in one turn? - No 400ly max distance.
