[edit] Overview

The Ionic Gun Array at Tech 11 is the 'big brother' of the Ion Cannon, being more than 10 times faster. If another weapon takes down the shields of an enemy ship, the Ionic Gun Array can fire directly at the hull of all but the biggest ships, because of its massive 3000 Armor Arc. Then it is very likely that you will take over the enemy ship due to system damage.
Due to its very high rate of fire, it strongly benefits from Large Weapon Exotic Techs helping it to take out enemy shields on its own.

  • Although its mass regarding the mounting slots is 700kt, you only have to spend 200kt to build the Ionic Gun Array.
  • All large weapon mounts on ships have mass dampers that will reduce the mass of any weapon to max. 200kt for fuel comsuption purposes (this has no effect on the restriction mentioned above however).
