Ground Combat Modes

[edit] Overview

Each base is set to one of the following attack modes.

  • Peaceful
  • Roaming Defense
  • Deep Space Patrol
  • Attack and Run
  • Crush Kill Destroy!
  • Capture!

Their primary influence is on Ground Combat, but attack modes also have some side effects.

[edit] Peaceful

Marshalling: No forces will attempt to attack the enemy.

  • 50% troop attack bonus
  • Lose 25% more colonists than normal when attacked

Side Effects

Peaceful settings increase colonist happiness by 1.
  

[edit] Roaming Defence

Marshalling: 25% of troops go out to attack any enemy troops massing for an attack against you. This mode is quite effective in distorting your opponent`s plan.

  • 40% troop attack bonus
  • Lose 10% more colonists than normal when attacked
  • There is no Surrender phase with this ground combat mode unless an opponent base has a more aggressive ground combat mode set.

[edit] Deep Ground Patrols

Marshalling: 50% of troops, 50% of fighters and 50% of mechs go out to attack any enemies massing for attack.

  • 30% troop attack bonus
  • There is no Surrender phase unless another base has a more aggressive ground combat mode set.

[edit] Attack and Run

Marshalling: 90% of troops, all fighters and all mechs attack an enemy base without attempting to capture it.

  • 20% troop attack bonus
  • There is no Surrender phase unless another base has a more aggressive ground combat mode set.

[edit] Crush Kill Destroy!

Marshalling: 95% of troops, 95% of crew, 80% of high guard, all fighters and all mechs go out to attempt to take over an enemy base.

  • If you have 50% more troops in your army than the enemy army has, an 'Attack and Run' by the enemy is blocked.

Side Effects

  • 2 point drop in colonist happiness per turn
Keeping a wartime status makes the colonists uneasy, reducing happiness by 2.

Marshalling: 95% of troops, 95% of crew, 80% of high guard, all fighters and all mechs go out to attempt to take over an enemy base.

  • If you have 50% more troops in your army than the enemy army has, an 'Attack and Run' by the enemy is blocked.

Ground Combat Battle Losses

  • Kill less enemy structures, crews and colonists than normal
    • Fighters: kill 70% less colonists
    • Mechs: kill 87.5% less colonists
    • Troops: destroy 90% fewer Laser Cannons. Subsequently your crews will be confronted with 9 times more counter-attacking laser cannons.
    • Troops: kill 80% less base crews and colonists . Subsequently your troops will be counter-attacked by 80% more base crews.
  • Take much higher battle losses in counter-attacks
    • Defending base troops kill 3 times more attacking troops
    • Defending base crews kill 3 times more attacking troops

Side Effects

  • 2 point drop in colonist happiness per turn
