[edit] DRADIS: D irection, RA nge, DIS tance
DRADIS is a detection, identification and tracking system similar to modern-day radar. DRADIS reads IFF (Identify Friend/Foe) transmissions from friendly ships, scans unidentified vessels, and attempts to identify them based on known profiles.
Ships and astronomical bodies scanned by the DRADIS sensors are referred to as "DRADIS contacts". Contacts are typically identified by cross-referencing with an IFF system (in the case of ships) or an astronomical database (in the instance of planets or other celestial bodies).
[edit] Overview
Vessels with Dradis will have a fixed Scan Range Dependant of the Hull, this is a hull feature and it's always on. The sensor screen showing, low mid and high power, will have all three read as the same range in lyrs. There is no lower or higher settings.
- This device has no switch as it is a feature of the hull and anyone owning the hull can utilize the Dradis system.
- Vessels with Dradis will get 100% accurate scans of Vessels ID's ( no odds chance to scan, Dradis contact is 100% guaranteed)
- Vessels with Dradis will be able to see cloaked minefields within 50 LYrs. Including cloaked Barbs raising the chance to sweep them from 25% to 100%.
- Vessels with Dradis when encountering partially cloaked vessels (sensor image > than zero) will always be identified when scanned as "unknown Target"
- Vessels with Dradis will be able to detect and identify ships hidden by the Robot Q Tanker, but the Q Tanker itself will show up as "unknown target"
- Vessels with Dradis will identify any enemy pods within 200 Lyrs.
- Dradis can detect ships with superweapons using its radiological detection means. it can tell when either superweapons or nukes are on board a vessel. it will also give the same alarm for anything within a ship using forms of radiation to power their ships for normal purposes. Fully Cloaked Vessels Carrying a Superweapon will be detected by Dradis as an "unknown Target" and listed as carrying radiological weapons or nukes.
- dradis will not identify the particular weapon that triggers radiological alarms, it will only note that radiation is detected on that vessel. for example it wont indicate that a superlaser is on board vessel X. it will only indicate that a particular vessel triggered the alarm.why it triggered the alarm wont be determined by dradis.
- when a radiological entity is detected by dradis the player will receive a game message as follows.
subject: Radiological detection
text: dradis has detected radiological devices
from (Dradis Contact id#)
Dradis Contact id# at location X,Y(if not cloaked)
Unknown Dradis contact id# at location X,Y (if ship is cloaked)
[edit] Dradis Detection
| Object Type | Detection Range | Identified As | Player Message?
|
| All pod Types[2] | 200 Lyr | Fully Detected | No
|
| Uncloaked Ships | Max Dradis Range = Hull Scan Range | Fully Detected | No
|
| Ships with no Cloak | Max Dradis Range = Hull Scan Range | Fully Detected | No
|
| Partially Cloaked Ships | Max Dradis Range = Hull Scan Range | "Unknown Target" | No
|
| Cloaked Ships | Max Dradis Range = Hull Scan Range | No Detection | No
|
| Cloaked Ships With Superweapons / Nukes | Max Dradis Range[1] = Hull Scan Range | "Unknown Target" | Yes
|
| Ships with Superweapons / Nukes | Max Dradis Range[1] = Hull Scan Range | Fully Detected | Yes
|
| Uncloaked Minefields | Max Dradis Range = Hull Scan Range | Fully Detected | No
|
| Cloaked Minefields | 50ly | Fully Detected | No
|
| Fighter Wings | Max Dradis Range = Hull Scan Range | Fully Detected | No
|
- [1] = Radiological detection has a max range of 300 LYs thus the ship itself may be detected at max hull scan range, but the superweapon wont be detected if the ship is beyond the 300 LY Range. If a ship has only Super Weapon(s) in outfit pod(s) it wont be detected by Radiological detection.
- [2] = Cloaked Gold Pods will not be Detected.
[edit] Ranges
- Vessels with Dradis will not be able to detect cloaked vessels. This is not a Tachyon Emitter.
- Vessels with Dradis have no improvements over standard scanners when detecting ground bases.
[edit] Moment/Duration
[edit] Limitations
- anyone owning thIs hull will gain the feature of Dradis
- Solorian Ships make false positive for the radiological super weapon detection. in otherwords all Solarian hulls will trigger the radiological alarm even if they dont have Superweapons on board, this is due to the fiery nature of the solarians, emiiting high amounts of radiation which triggers the alarm.
- Dradis will malfunction when the Vessel using it is within an active Laser Minefield or if an active Laser Minefield has detonated on the hull carryiing the Dradis.
- Dradis malfunctions inside ion storms and or nebulas.(for potential future releases)
