A great flagship. Enemy fighters are a larger risk than enemy ships. I like to include a few of these in my main battlefleets. Not too many as it's still better in most cases to spend your cash on lots of Deth Speculas.
Sneak within 100 lyrs and fire the World Crusher Missile at enemy bases too well defended to ground assault.
You can use the Super Laser and Protomatter Cannon to do some "Birdman Terraforming". This will create an unstable planet with excellent farming potential. As the planet gets closer to exploding more and more minerals will be created in the planets core. Drop down some Plasmatron N6is to dig the rock for all its worth before it blows.

Darkwing Class Battleship is one of the most feared ships in the universe. But it never should see any real battle. You have better ships for that. The only reason you should ever build a Darkwing is that you need a super weapon. You should equip it with 1SC, 9PTTs, 25PLs, 7mSCs and 3TLs. It can attack to small to medium ships if opportunity appears but these things are too expensive (and fuel hungry) to chase small targets. DW is a lone wolf hunting for big bases. So idea is to carry World Crusher Missile and take out big and well defended enemy bases. It is almost impossible to stop DWs to lurk in range and fire. Operating outside a fleet Darkwing should always tow an engineless Bright to provide mine laying/sweeping ability. It should always have resupply pods docked to carry extra ord and fuel. These DWs should carry two wings of 10 Voltars. If enemy has a base shield you can use these DWs with other fleet to destroy the shield. Sometimes enemy really likes big, bad and extremely expensive monster ships, Gorbi being best example coming to my mind. If this is a case then it might be a worth of trouble to build 2 DWs with cheap weapons and Super Laser. One DW may get hit from enemy super weapon but other one fries the target. And two DWs with Super Laser on costs about 50 000mcs where Gorbi can cost 170 000mcs. You could go so far as leaving weapons off completely, just simulate that DWs survive long enough to fire the SL. To destroy and rebuild a planet you need a DW with SL and a DW with Proto Matter Cannon. These ‘industrial’ DWs do not need weapons, shields or armour. DW is immune to Tachyon Scanners (excluding Fed owned Loki).
