[edit] Overview

A planet has a climate rating that determines which races are more accustomed to living (and particularly farming) on that planet. This value can be changed through the use of terraforming ship devices and base structures. Planets will tend to have a climate that is close to its star's heat level. The range that a climate can be is from 0 to 100.

Making the climate more favorable to your race's tolerance level will allow you to farm the soil. Some races cannot tolerate certain climate conditions and will die if adjustments aren't made quickly.

[edit] "Terraforming" - Ways to adjust the climate of a planet

  • The Terra Former base structure.
  • The Crystal Assembly has an Infernorator ground base building that will heat up the climate.
  • The Crystal Assembly has a Hyperlathe ground base building that will heat up the climate.
  • The Global Warmer, Global Icer, and Crystal Inferno Device ship devices will adjust the climate of a planet that they are over.
  • A planet that explodes will have its climate reset to 0.
  • A planet's climate has a 30% chance to change its climate in the direction of the star's heat every turn.
  • A planet's climate has a 35% chance to heat up if its climate is less than the star's heat plus the square root of the hyperdimensional inertia.
  • The Solorian Unity with at least 500,000 colonists in a ground base will heat up the climate by 1 per 500,000 colonists.
  • A Laser Mining Drill ship device has a 30% chance of heating up a planet if at least 100 kt of minerals were extracted.
  • A Particle Fountain ship device will heat up the climate of a planet when used.
  • Building base structures (like mineral mines, cities, and factories) causes gradual global warming. Building them on planets that are too cold can make them farmable. (up to 8 degrees hotter than star heat)
    • According to Magik, this is incorrect. There is no industry-caused "Global Warming".
