There is a way to change the pictures of the race leaders and the race symbols, that are shown in the planets client, locally.

[edit] Race Leader Image

Put a BMP file in the BMP folder under your Planets4 installation folder with a name of L<race number>.BMP (such as L101.BMP for the Federation) to change the race's leader picture on your computer's installation.

• The official size is X 200, Y 250 pixels for the race leader (if they are bigger the will cause trouble when viewing in game messages from other players, or in raceview when implemented).

Put a BMP file in the BMP folder under your Planets4 installation folder with a name of S<race number>.BMP (such as S111.BMP for the Colonies of Man) to change the race's symbol on your computer's installation.

• The official size is X 160, Y 120 pixels for the race logo. They go up to X 150, Y 150, but not bigger (if they are bigger the will cause trouble when viewing in game messages from other players or in raceview when implemented).

The pictures are used for all games played with this installation of planets, so you cannot have special pictures for different games. (In fact this could be achieved by using several copies of planets on a computer each running only a single game).

• Only .bmp are read by the game client, the .jpg or others images format need to be converted to .bmp
• Curently raceview.exe do not scan for replacement pictures, you will see the default one from the racepacks.
• Raceview2 show replacement pictures!

Open an image file in a paint software and save it as a bmp. You may have to resize the image to the specified above value.

Did you know that if you place a file named l101.bmp in the BMP folder that image will become the Fed leader image. . .
s101.bmp is the new alt race symbol.
