I don't know the answer about when Pods selfdestruct for sure, but I guess it is during the phase when all devices are resolved (after movement). As Robot I have the habbit to send Chups to my neighbours and always set the pods to explode, when they are at least 271 Ly away (Podspeed-Exotic: 80Ly). The Cups spreading Chups never came back to me, which would happen, if the Pod explodes before movement. RoboDoc 12:58, 29 March 2006 (CEST)
the self destruct is after capture attempts, which is after all movement.--protomatter 07:06, 29 July 2007 (CEST)
also where is the mention of pods named booty and dustoff. theres a note regarding assault pods cannot be captured. however this doesnt seem to apply to evil empire dustoff pods. which are fully captureable, or at least were at one time.--protomatter 07:06, 29 July 2007 (CEST)
What go first? Drop the pod or Dock the pod?
So what will happen if I move a ship with all pod bays full to a base. The pods will drop to that base, but I will also dock new pods to that ship and move to a second waypoint. Will the new pods dock or stay by the base?

Both.
It has been my experience that pod dock/drop happens the same as ship transfers in that they can occur at any time during movement. Docking to a ship in that manner can be error prone however. For example, if you set the boost target to said ship, the ship and pods will meet up Before the ship gets to the planet, therefore its pod bays will be full, the pod wont dock, and the pod will end up heading to where the ship started the turn. If you only set the dock target for the pod, the pod should stay in orbit over the base till the ship gets there and drops off its pods, at which time the pod will dock in the now free pod bays. (pod dock/undock can happen within 1 ly of its target, so you Should be safe) However, to be Sure they dock to the ship, its best to set a boost target in the direction of where the ship will be heading after it leaves the planet.
It is also useful to note that the dock/drop/boost targets remain the same from planet to planet till you change them. which is great for cloning, but easy to send the pods to the wrong places if youre not careful...
Ive learned all this after many many failed dock/drop/boost attempts.--.X Cal. 19:37, 31 May 2008 (CEST)
In answer to the question on the main page: "Do Camps kill prisoners in excess of what fits in the Camps?"
Yes, they do. From the Labor Camp page:
Prisoners perish at a rate of
(Prisoners * Active_Labor_Camps / 20.000) + Active_Labor_Camps
