[edit] Overview

  • Large Weapons are the main weapons of ships to fight against enemy ships and bases. They are much more powerful than small weapons.
  • There are 20 different kinds of large weapons you can put on your ships. To be able to build a special kind of large weapon, you first have to upgrade to the needed large weapon tech level.
  • The amount of large weapons you can mount on a ship depends on the Hull and can vary from 0 to 20.
  • You cannot put all kinds of large weapons on every ship. Each ship hull has a parameter telling the max. weight each large weapon put on that ship may have.
  • All large weapon mounts on ships have mass dampers that will reduce the mass of any weapon to max. 200kt for fuel consumption purposes (this has no effect on the restriction mentioned above however).
  • The attribute Max Charge seen in the ingame Weapon Specs is simply Power Drain * Charge Time


Red = weak/low/expensive value, Bold = strong/high/cheap value, Green = strongest/highest/cheapest value.

  • The following table contains information on the inflicting damage if a Large Weapon has successfully landed a hit on its target.
  • The Shield Drain and Armor Drain values can be improved by Exotic Tech for all Large Weapons.
  • The Armor ODrain value is the Armor Drain that Organic Armor takes from Large Weapons.

14 Gatling Phasor Can shoot at enemy fighters.
8 Plasma Bolt Cannon Target armor reduced by 4 on non-Lizard hulls and Targets not owned by Lizards.
7 Photon Torpedo Tube Holo Decoys reduce accuracy by 1/4 their numbers (by max 60 if there is 240+ of them).
6 Energy Mines After penetrating shields, 100 + Rnd*100 Repair Units on the Target are destroyed.
4 Blaster Cannon Large Weapon Blast increased by 3000 when Target is a Base.
4 Anti-Matter Gun Large Weapon Blast increased by 700 when Target is a Base.
2 Force Beam After penetrating shields, 200 + Rnd*200 Ordnance on the Target are destroyed.
2 Sand Caster Concussion Rockets are the only Point Defense that can deflect a Sand Caster shot (60% chance).
The Exotic Tech Energized Sand will counter the Concussion Rocket 50% of the time. Sand Casters can shoot at enemy fighters. They also destroy Holo Decoys.
1 500mm Gun Large Weapon Blast increased by 1000 when Target is a Base.

  • Active Aczanny ECM reduces accuracy of non-Aczanny hulls by 30
  • Mass Driver on Aczanny hulls get a 42 point accuracy bonus
  • Mass Driver on Aczanny hulls drain an additional 10 points of armor
  • Large Weapon Kill rating on Aczanny hull is 50% normal
  • Large Weapon Kill rating for Mass Driver on Aczanny hull is 5% normal
  • I miss something about the "Aczanny large weapons have an Ionic Modulator that has a 1 in 30 chance of adding a 100 to 300 armor arc to the shot during a VCR." here.   • All Large Weapons on Darkwing G pass through all Shields on Cyborg owned ships
  • All Large Weapons on Darkwing G pass through all Shields on captured Cyborg hulls
  • All Large Weapons on Darkwing G drain an additional 50% Armor Drain to Coalition Organic Armor.
  • All Large Weapons on Darkwing G inflict double normal ArmorDrain on other ships.
  • All Large Weapons on Darkwing G gain +1000 Armor Arc against a Birdmen owned ship and a captured Darkwing G.

  • The Virgo Class drains an additional 5 armor when firing ord-using Large Weapons.
  • The Virgo Class drains an additional 5 armor when firing ord-using Large Weapons against Robot-owned ships. (stacks with above)
  • The Virgo Class drains an additional 10 armor from Lizard-owned ships with ord-using Large Weapons. (does not stack with above)
  • The Virgo Class drains an additional 10 armor from captured Lizard hulls with ord-using Large Weapons. (does not stack with above)
  • The Virgo Class deals 2x normal blast damage to Target's hull with Large Weapons.

  • A Crystal-owned ship hit by an Ord using Large Weapon is dealt 3x normal Shield Drain
  • A Crystal-owned ship hit by a non-Ord using Large Weapon is dealt 1/2 normal Shield Drain
  • A Crystal-owned ship hit by a non-Ord using Large Weapon absorbs half the energy needed to fire the weapon.
  • Diamond Flame Class Battleship
    • Dealt 1/2 normal Shield Drain by all Large Weapons
    • Absorbs half the energy needed to fire Large Weapon hitting it.
    • Ord using Large Weapons increase Shield by 3 (max 14,000) and Armor by 2 (Max 850).
  • NOTE:Extra Shield Drain by Stormers, Coalition, Overchargers and Energized Sand is dealt after the above reductions take place.

  • Large Weapons firing at ships that are of Cyborg design or are owned by the Cyborg do not benefit from the Large Weapon Overcharger Exotic Techs.
    • Darkwing Gs that are firing are immune to this effect.

  • Large Weapon Damage Sys rating is 2x normal (bug?, should be 4x?)
  • Large Weapon Kill rating is 1/2 normal
  • NOTE: These *might* require a UEA hull

  • Lizard-owned ships or captured Lizard hulls take only 1/3 normal ArmorDrain.
    • Virgo Class firing ord-using weapons deals an additional 10 points of ArmorDrain, which is not reduced.
  • Lizard-owned ships or captured Lizard hulls take only 1/2 normal ArmorDrain from Exotic Tech Large Weapon Magnum.
  • Saurian Class Cruiser takes 0 losses to crew and guests from Large Weapons.
  • Lizard-owned ships that are Lizard hulls have their Large Weapon Blast increased to Rnd * Weapon Blast * 50 + 100 vs ground base.

  • Large Weapons deal 4x normal Shield Drain against ships not owned by Privateer when carrying the target's plans.
  • Large Weapons deal 4x normal Armor Drain against ships not owned by Privateer when carrying the target's plans.
  • Large Weapons kill 4x normal crew and guests.

  • All Large Weapons get a 10 point accuracy bonus (combine with below)
  • Photon Torpedo Tube gets a 50 point accuracy bonus (before range and evasion modifiers)
  • Pulsed Phasor Cannon gets 30 point accuracy bonus
  • Gatling Phasor gets 40 point accuracy bonus
  • Photon Torpedoes that would have been shot down by Point Defense have a 60% chance of not being shot down. (Fed owner only)

  • A Solorian-owned ship hit by an Ord using Large Weapon is dealt 1/2 normal Shield Drain
  • A Solorian-owned ship hit by an non-Ord using Large Weapon is dealt 2x normal Shield Drain

  • Photon Torpedos only have a Shield Drain of 5 vs Stormer owned ships.
  • Stormer owned Large Weapons have a +3 bonus to their Shield Drain
  • Stormer owned Large Weapons have a +300 bonus to their Shield Arc.
  • Stormer owned Large Weapons have a +3 bonus to Blast damage on Target's hull.
  • Ill Wind Class Battlecruiser Evasion modifier is set to 1.9 when targeting ships with an Evasion > 70 (Stormer owner only). It takes 0 losses to crew and guests from Large Weapons. Each tick an additional 5 points of energy are added to its Large Weapons which causes them to fire faster than normal. Its Large Weapons cannot be damaged during combat.
  • Large Weapons on Stormer (owned?) ships will continue to charge and fire in combat, regardless of any Weapon Damage sustained.

  • Ordinance based Large Weapons gain +40 accuracy with the exception of PTT and sandcasters
  • Energy Based Large Weapons have a -40 accuracy penalty for this race

  • If a Large Weapon theoretically hits an enemy ship, the ship still has a chance to shoot down the incoming fire with its Point Defense. The order of events for this can be found here.

  • Each successful Hit has a 10% chance of increasing Ship's Skill by +1, to a maximum of 30,000.

  • Target may be pushed, dependant on mass and power of Weapon.
