Details on Capturing Pods

[edit] How To Capture Pods

it is possible to capture Pods. in order to do so your ship must select from the Ship Command - Overview screen "Capture" and assign the Pod id to this function.

  • turn off Attack Soft in your Ship Command - Attack screen this will keep you from destroying the Pod prior to the end of the turn where Pod capture takes place.
  • turn off Auto Intercept in your Ship Command - Mission Screen so your ship isnt diverted from its Capture target by a random intercept mission
  • ship must be present at the end of turn and survived any combat VCR that took place enroute to or at the Pods location. if the Pod is moving you can perform this by intercepting the Pod id you wish to capture. set intercept from the Ship Command - Overview screen and enter the pods ID.
  • at the end of your next turn the Pod will be owned by you and you will recieve a message in the Ships Log indicating it has docked with your ship. currently a bug exists where it appears your Captured Pod is not docked but it is in fact docked, and your free to move off to capture another.
  • free floating Pods can be towed if you do not have a free docking bay for it to dock to.
  • Pods can not be orded to self destruct prior to being to being captured in the same turn.
  • only 1 pod can be captured per ship per turn.
  • ships without docking bays can capture pods. however the pods wont be able to dock and must be picked up by another ship with docking bays or towed. an effective means to aid ships with many docking bays is to have multiple ships without docking bays perform the capture and have the single ship with docking bay retrieve them.

[edit] Wreckage Pods

Wreckage Pods contain Valueable resources and should not be overlooked. capturing these pods and have them dock with your bases to capture various weapons engines shields armor not to mention fuel ord and repair units. if your too far away from a nearby base to dock the pod you can flip the switched marked Salvage in the Pod Command - Control Screen and ressuply your ship in the field from its remainder. this will produce three separate pods but not always, sometimes not enough debris survived to fill out one of the three types.

  • an Ore Pod - Containing some of the minerals used to create the wrecked ship
  • an Outfit Pod - Containing Some of the Ship Parts used to build the wrecked ship. (did he have a superweapon?)
  • a Resupply Pod - Containing some of the Fuel repair units and Ordinance stored within the ship
