The Cyborg don't grow as rapidly as other races due to their ability to assimilate other races and most natives. The Cyborg King makes the growth rate of one base more in line with other races, but all other bases are severely limited in their growth. When the Assimilation Beam ship device is active, it assimilates (converts into a Cyborg colonist) enemy personnel in the base below the ship.
- Up to 250,000 enemy colonists, crew, troops, or high guard rangers are turned into Cyborg colonists and placed on board the ship if there is available guest room on the ship. The Quietus Class Cruiser only has a guest capactiy of 100,000, so only 100,000 personnel will be assimilated per turn at a maximum.
- The ship must be at 3 ly or less of the base with enemy personnel on it.
- The Assimilation Beam functions properly through active Base Shields.
- No ship log message entry is generated by the Assimilation Beam for the Cyborg. The enemy player will get a base log message entry such as:
"Help! We are being assimilated! 250,000 colonists taken!"
- The Cyborg King has special assimilation abilities. The King does not enhance the ability of the Assimilation Beam at all.
- When all enemy personnel has been assimilated the remaining Fighter & Assault unit vanish.
- When an enemy base is has all of its personnel completely assimilated, the ownership of the base is changed to that of the assimilator.

- Only Cyborg can use the Assimilation Beam.
- The device does not work on natives, Crystals, Robots or other Cyborgs. This includes natives in allied bases, enemy bases and on the planet surface. Natives in Cyborg bases are assimilated instantly. It may be a bug, but through testing I found that the Assimilation Beam does work on enemy Cyborgs. Host 196
- Assimilated Solorians die instantly.
